How to Choose a Robotic Mower Supplier: A Dealer’s Guide

WANJI Field NotesSeptember 20269 min read

Autonomous mowing is one of the fastest-moving categories in agricultural equipment — and the market is full of demonstrators, crowd-funding concepts and brands that will not exist when your customer needs a part next season. For a dealer, the machine is only half the decision. The supplier is the other half: the partner who keeps machines running, supplies paperwork, and still answers the phone in year three. This guide gives you the six checks we would use if we were on your side of the table — and a straight description of how WANJI lines up against each one.

The dealer’s reality: you are selling uptime, not robots

Farmers, municipalities and contractors buy the outcome — grass cut, on schedule, with no operator on the slope. When something stops that outcome, they call you, not the factory. Your reputation in your market depends on three things the brand controls: can the machine actually do the job, can you get parts fast, and will the company still be there? The fastest way to pick a supplier is to score every candidate against those three questions, not against the demo video.

The six checks

1. Is it in mass production — or still a prototype?

Ask how many units are in the field, in how many countries, and whether the model you would buy today is the one shipping in volume. Pre-order machinery is a gamble your customers’ season cannot cover. WANJI’s mowers — wheeled electric, tracked hybrid and compact — are in mass production today, at work in 30+ countries across Europe, North America and Australia. Our 0.8–2.2 ton mini excavator line lets you serve the same farm customers across two product families.

Ask any supplier: “How many units have shipped, and to which markets?”

2. Do the certifications match the markets you sell into?

Municipal tenders and professional buyers require paperwork. A machine without the right certification is unsellable into public procurement and hard to register. WANJI machines are CE certified, and the engine-powered range meets EPA Tier 4 and EURO V standards; documents ship with orders. Confirm your market’s requirements early — the autonomy stack (RTK-GNSS, LiDAR, electronic geofence) is explained in our technology guide, so you can sell it with confidence.

Ask: “Which certificates ship with the machine, and for which model?”

3. Do the numbers survive a field test?

Brochure throughput means nothing if the machine spends half the day stuck, charging or re-cutting. Compare on tested, repeatable specs: the R1 delivers a 790 mm cut, 2,000 m²/h, 118 kg with 4WD zero-turn, and removable LiFePO4 packs (not hot-swappable) good for 2 hours / 4,000 m² each, with automatic dock recharge and resume; the tracked T1-900A cuts 3,000–4,000 m²/h on slopes up to 40°. Every unit is tested on the factory test area before dispatch. Demand real field footage for your application — orchard rows, embankments, parks — not studio renders.

Ask: “Show me video of this model doing my exact job.”

4. What happens when a part is needed?

This is where dealerships live or die. A six-week wait for a part in mowing season costs you the customer. WANJI ships a spare-parts kit with every machine and commits to a 72-hour spare-parts response, with every inquiry answered within 24 hours, for both mowers and excavators. Before you sign with anyone, put the parts question in writing — response time, shipping method, and whether wear parts are stocked for export.

Ask: “If a controller fails in June, exactly what happens and when?”

5. What sales and demonstration support do you actually get?

You should not have to invent the marketing. A serious supplier arms its dealers: catalogs, real photos and field videos, spec sheets, and demonstration guidance. WANJI provides all of these, and the stack demos well — RTK-GNSS ±2 cm navigation, LiDAR avoidance, the 7-inch touchscreen remote with live camera and a fleet app are things a farmer understands in thirty seconds of watching. Our cost-savings breakdown and Buyer FAQ are built to hand straight to customers.

Ask: “What do I receive to market and demonstrate this in month one?”

6. Is the commercial model built for dealers — or around you?

Robotics brands that sell direct online leave dealers with the service work and none of the margin. WANJI’s model is the traditional machinery one: dealers, distributors and agricultural contractors are our core route to market. Terms are agreed per market, from a first demonstration unit to volume fleet orders, and one partner covers a full equipment offering — autonomous mowers plus 0.8–2.2 ton mini excavators for the same orchards, farms and municipalities.

Ask: “How is my market protected, and what are terms from the first container onward?”

A quick supplier scorecard

Run every brand you evaluate through this list. If a supplier gets quiet on any of the “ask” questions above, that is your answer.

  • Mass production today, with units in the field across multiple countries — not pre-orders.
  • CE, EPA Tier 4 and EURO V documentation that ships with the order.
  • Tested, repeatable performance specs and real field footage for your application.
  • 72-hour spare-parts response and parts kits with each machine.
  • Sales assets and demonstration support provided from day one.
  • Dealer-first commercial terms with market cooperation agreed in writing.

Quick answers

Do we need robotics experience to take on the line?

No. Operation is via touchscreen remote and smartphone app; documentation, support materials and remote support come with the dealership, and machinery dealers pick it up quickly.

Can we start with one machine?

Yes — many of our partners begin with a demonstration unit and build orders from their first local customers; terms scale from there.

Is our market available?

Machines already work in 30+ countries, but open territories remain. Ask for your country when you contact us and we will confirm status and terms within 24 hours.
